Abstrak

This study discusses Harun Nasution's thoughts and contributions to reforming Islamic thought in Indonesia, particularly through the integration of aqidah with Islamic political philosophy. Harun Nasution emphasized the need for a rational approach in Islamic education to address the challenges of modernity. His efforts included reforming Islamic higher education, strengthening the study of Islamic philosophy, and promoting freedom of reason and reconstruction of theological thought. Support from key figures such as Minister of Religious Affairs Mukti Ali and Munawir Sadzali helped realize his ideas. His influence also reached later generations, including Nurcholish Madjid and Azyumardi Azra, who continued the spirit of reform to make Islamic higher education more rational, open, and relevant to contemporary developments.
